We left Newport at 800 am and arrived in Dana Point at noon. Calm ride, sunny and warm! We got on our bikes and explored the town right away. A beautiful harbor and city. The harbor is bustling with walkers and paddleboarders/kayaks. Great restaurants within walking distance. We met a couple at the winery in the harbor and ended up having them out on our boat. We enjoyed meeting a few Nordhavn owners who we hope to see in Mexico! Our good friends from Minnesota came to visit us on the 18th (they traveled in their RV to California) and we left for Catalina Island the next morning about 8:15 am and arrived at 1:45. It was a bit bumpy, a few of us got a bit queasy. But it was sunny and we saw a huge whale about 50-75 ft from our vessel! Had a great time hiking and exploring the town of Avalon in a golf cart. Beautiful Island. The ride home  the next day was smooth with no issues.

On the 24th we rented a car and explored a bit of Laguna Beach. Very nice area but a bit touristy. Great shopping though! We also drove to Palm Springs for  an overnight. Good to see but not interested in returning. A bit too touristy for our tastes and looks a lot like Arizona. We drove through Temecula on the way back and stopped for lunch in Oldtown. Charming! Temecula is a very pretty city.

All in all we love Dana Point and look forward to coming back!
